BGH decides: Software from volume licenses may be sold individually

In the long lasting dispute between software producers and used license dealers, the situation is finally clarified. The Federal Supreme Court decided on 11 December that splitting up volume licenses is also legal. Dealers who resell licenses may also offer them individually within the scope of the number of licenses originally purchased. This decision was based on a previous ruling of the European Court of Justice. The ruling will have far-reaching consequences not only for Adobe, but also for manufacturers such as Microsoft.
